About Us

Happy Life Legal LLP is a client-centered Hawai‘i-based estate planning law firm offering thoughtful, affordable, and fully personalized legal services.

We believe that preparing for the future should bring peace of mind, not stress.

We help individuals and families prepare essential documents — including Revocable Living Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Health Care Directives — with clarity and care.

Our mission is to make estate planning feel accessible and empowering, not overwhelming.

We offer flat fees, clear communication, and a modern process handled seamlessly by emails, phone, and/or video calls (your choice).

Whether you’re just starting or panicking, you’re in the right place to begin. We would love to help you and your family.

What does it mean to be "client-centered"?

We're not here to follow cold traditional law firms—we're here to be something modern & better. We treat our clients like partners and our work like a craft, so you are never just another case file. Guided by strategy and heart, we help Hawaiʻi families build a bridge between generations, making estate planning a meaningful part of life’s work. Every client we take on is our opportunity to help, grow, and do something good. By utilizing virtual meetings and flat-fee billing, we prioritize you with accessibility and empathy.

Meet the Attorneys

Aloha! Annette Kim, J.D.

Losing a family member during the height of COVID-19 showed me the profound weight families carry when they aren’t prepared for the unthinkable. Witnessing that struggle firsthand—and navigating growing up in an immigrant single-mother household—makes me very passionate about what I do.

I don’t just draft legal documents;

I craft the peace of mind for other families that I wish my own family had.

Since 2019, I have been committed to guiding families with care and clarity.

I take a unique modern approach. I practice care and kindness, minimizing stress, increasing accessibility and clarity rather than the traditional “cold, impatient lawyer” vibe.

Currently helping families all-over the Hawai‘i islands, and will be expanding my firm’s footprint into three new states. My bar credentials meet the requirements for over 35 U.S. jurisdictions, allowing me to provide high-level, portable estate planning solutions even for families with complex, multi-state lives.

I produce flat-fee estate plans effectively and conveniently handle our discussions virtually through phone, video call, and email. You do not need to skip work if you choose Happy Life Legal. I am happy to help your family with simple or complex strategies.

Life Beyond the Law: When I am not advocating for families, I stay grounded through meditation and quality time with my family.

As an avid art collector, I find joy in growing my personal art collection within my own Art Trust.

My favorite legal quote:

“The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.”

My favorite non-legal quotes:

“As you start to walk on the way, the way appears. Clarity comes from action.”

“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”

Life Beyond the Law: Outside of the office, nothing brings me more happiness than spending time with my family and my Morkie, Taco.

I stay energized by being outdoors—whether I’m swimming or staying active in the community. I also have a competitive spirit; a fun fact about me is that I have coached several National tennis champions and am one myself. Now I enjoy pickleball.

My favorite legal quote:

"Hard work builds wealth; a great plan keeps it in the family.

Protecting your present, securing your future."

My favorite non-legal quote:

“Love out loud. The world is listening.”
